MORGAN REID
Choreographer, Dancer, Composer
Morgan Reid was born in 1989 in Toronto, Canada.
He started his dance education with the Toronto Dance Theater at the young age of 12 and attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts and the National Ballet School of Canada, moving to Europe in 2007 for a Bachelor program at the Rotterdam Dance academy in the Netherlands. In 2009, he joined a youth dance company in Barcelona - IT Dansa. 2012 was the year he met Tine as they both started new positions as dancers at the Landestheater Linz. Morgan Later joined the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich as a Soloist.
Morgan Reid's choreographic efforts began in 2006 with a Solo: "Movement Forces". In 2007, Morgan showed two separate works "Mad Rush" and " Bound Flow" choreographed to the music of Philip Glass. At the age of 17 he received the Bailey Bird Memorial Award for Choreography in Toronto. While in Barcelona he created works such as "The Void...Between" (2010 with live music), and "Artificial Sun Projections" (2011) "Understanding Survival".
Morgan worked as a freelance choreographer and teacher in
Toronto creating a new work "Fusion" (Jan. 2012) commissioned by the Toronto based company "The Parahumans" 12 dancers with original music composition by Morgan Reid performed at the "Dance Ontario Weekend"
Morgan has been practicing Ashtanga yoga since 2004 and has a 2nd degree black belt in shotokan karate from the Japan Karate Association (JKA).
